Robust detection theory can be come back to the paper published by Huber in 1960's, it has been developed quickly and has many practical applications in various fields for its robustness resistence deviation from assumed models and resistence error as well as other robust signal processing metheds. Based on the improved signal processing methods, robust detection is applied to underwater acoustic signal processing field, which can improve detection detectability under complicated ambient noise. The computer simulation results show that the proposed approach in this paper are practical and effective and have wide application prospect. This paper reviews the developmemt history of robust detection theory and its application in underwater acoustic signal processing. On the basis of the available research, the preprocessing technics on signals and robust detection technics are studied intensively in this contribution. The main innovative points are listed as fellows.1. Based on adaptive filtered in signal preprocessing field, the ELMS algirithm and improved ELMS algorithm are discussed and analyzed by use of computer simulation, which can be used to reduce normal noise and symmetry distribution noise, and improve detection detectability under complicated ambient noise according to simulation results.2. Based on adaptive filtered in signal preprocessing field, the higher-order statistics LMS algirithm is discussed and analyzed by use of computer simulation, which can be used to reduce normal noise and symmetry distribution noise, and improve detection detectability under complicated ambient noise according to simulation results.3. To solve small sample signal detection problem, we propose an improved robust detection approach on the basis of the Bootstrap method in modern statistics. Under the different ambient noise, the Single frequency signal, multi-frequecny...
