Along with the rapid development of all-optical network, all-optical modulation and all-optical switch have attracted great interest. And it's more and more important to develop suitable materials. Due to the advantages of fast response, synthesis, coating film and the variable molecular structure, the organic polymer could be widely used in the photonics and integrated optics in the future. An all-optical light modulation scheme based on improved prism-waveguide coupling method is developed in this thesis. Due to the thermo-optic effect or optical Kerr effect of 1, 4-diamino-2, 3-diphenoxy-anthraquinone organic dye-doped polymethyl-methacrylate films, the intensity of the probe light is modulated by the intensity of the pump light and the response time is about 20 ms. From the synchronous angle of the two guided mode TM0 and TM1, the linear refractive index can be calculated to be 1.52 and the thickness of the film is1.3μm. The thermo-optic coefficient is measured to be 3.8×10-4/°C and the third-order nonlinear optical susceptibilityχ(3) is 6.21×10-7esu.
