Currently the digital trend and the demand of multimedia application become much stronger than ever before, and research of video coding has been the most active one among all multimedia information processing technology fields. H.264, the newly international norm on video coding, stands for the highest achievement in the image compression field, and provides more effective compression, so it has bright future without doubt. Among kinds of video coding methods, discrete cosine transform (DCT) based on the block is the core of most international image coding standards. However transform based on the block will bring about block artifacts in reconstructed picture when applied in low bit rate environment. The artifacts may lead to the decline of image quality and influence the acceptance of eyes normally, which restricts its application extensively. Up to now, many different methods solving this problem have emerged. This paper focus on the research work of postprocessing algorithm and brings up a new way using adaptive filter based on macro block classification to avoid the block artifacts, improving the quality of decoded image.Firstly, this paper introduces both the basic concept of video compression coding and DCT transform, explains how the artifacts come into being; Secondly, this paper analyses the tache related to the appearance and...
