In electronic information technologies, integrated circuits are of significant importance, and they are the basis that electronic information technologies develops. In modern IC developments, high-density integration is needed, frequency band is becoming more and more broad, and also operating frequency is becoming higher and higher.For new progress achieved in imformation technologies, effects of parasite parameters in devices must be characterized in detail. On the other hand, power dissipation must be reduced significantly. So, more recently much attention has been focused on the study on reducing losses in different types of transmission lines.In Chapter 2 , an important type of transmission line---coplanar waveguides is introduced, which has been widely used in the design of microwave and millimeter-wave cuicuits. In most devices designed, there are many types of coplanar waveguide(CPW) discontinuities, such as steps, air gaps, and bends. These discontinuities have significant effect on signal transmission.
