The trust problem in grid environment is a hot topic in current gird research. Based on the previous research theories a new trust model which is named virtual organization based multi-level grid trust model was proposed in order to resolve the security problems due to the dynamics and uncertainty of the grid environment. This model discriminates the trust relationships between entities in the grid environment. It provides a method to quantify the trust degree of entities in the grid environment and the quality of grid service. It also provides the arithmetic for updating the trust degree of entities in the grid environment. The two different trust relationships within and between virtual organizations are handled with different approaches. In addition the model clearly defines the following four roles and their behaviors in the grid environment: trust agent in the virtual organization, resource agent in the virtual organization, trust agent among virtual organizations, resource agent among virtual organizations. It was proved that this model can be embedded into the current grid environment very neatly. It reinforces and perfects the OGSA theories and was verified by sensor grid simulated experiments.
