Research On Web Caching Technology In Active Network

Network caching can reduce network burden,decrease user perceived latencies, and reduce the original server load. At present, sevral disadvantages exist in the web caching mechanism, such as:the traffic are too heavy, when the web cache severs are cooperationing with each other, it is too discommodiousness to manage the severs manually and the load balance have not been taken into account.Based on analyzing the existed web caching technology and the characteristic of the active network. A self-organizing cooperative web caching mechanism is proposed. Based on constructing grade structure automatically, a technology called cache digest is used to communicate and cooperate. Also, in order to reduce the communicate costs, all of the cache digests are managed centrally. Meanwhile, The system can also load balance between severs according to a cache replacement arithmetic, caching data are migrated to the sever who has the smallest integration cache value. Therefore, the load between severs is blanced, cache replacement also get its best effort. Trace-driven simulation technique and Network Simulator are used to simulate the mechanism. The result shows that the mechanism has much more advantages than the conventional systems.
