The nonlinear optical nature of the semiconductor materials and the PANI materials theoretical and experimental research is always the focus of attention. The main objective of this study is to find the nonlinear optical material, which may be applied to optical switches, optical communications. The semiconductor materials and the PANI materials exhibit good optical limiting character, which is based on nonlinear optical properties of materials. Selecting suitable materials is very important. In the chapter one the background about nonlinear optical properties of the semiconductor nano-particles and the PANI materials was introduced. Then it introduced the nonlinear optical phenomenon. Z-scan technique is an important experimental method on studying the nonlinear optical nature. The second chapter gives a detailed theoretical description of the methodology. We introduced the optical material nature in the third chapter, then we discussed the optical limiting mechanisms and optical limiting parameter. In the chapter four, the experimental results were analyzed. Through the PANI materials and semiconductor materials Z- scan and nonlinear transmission experiments, we analyzed the third-order optical nonlinearities and optical limited nature of the semiconductor nano-particles and the PANI materials.Experimental results show that the mechanism of the semiconductor nano-materials is based on optical nonlinear refraction and the two-photon absorption. And the mechanism of the PANI materials is reverse saturable absorption.
