Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology has become an interest research area in wireless communication ,and now it is looked as one of the key technologies for the next generation wireless communication systems. Carrier modulated UWB system can be implemented using many schemes, in which DS-CDMA UWB and MB-OFDM UWB are the two main ones.OFDM technology, with the merits of high bandwidth efficiency, robustness to multi-path and simplicity of equalization, is especially suitable for wideband wireless communication. This thesis is supported by National High Technology Project"Key technology of Ultra-Wideband wireless communications". In this paper, we discuss the feasibility and system structure when the discrete Hartley transform instead of the DFT is used in OFDM.This thesis consists of six chapters.Chapter One gives a brief introduction of UWB, including its concept and characteristics.Chapter Two decrypts the characteristic of the UWB channel..Chapter Three gives the conception and characteristics of the discrete Hartley transform. Then the channel Estimation algorithm in DHT based OFDM system is analyzed.Chapter Four decrypts some noise resistance method when the discrete Hartley transform(DHT) is used in OFDM. Some questions such as frequency offset estimation, Cyclic Prefix and PAPR are discussed in this Chapter.Chapter Five gives the system design and the simulate result of the OFDM based on DHT.Chapter six summarizes the whole thesis and outlines the future research directions.UWB technology has wide application foreground. It has the advantages of low power, high resolving rate, and high power spectrum utilization rate. It is a hot research and development area. This thesis partly researches the UWB receiver technology that maybe helpful to our future research work.
