Passive Optical Network (PON) is a pure media network, and its main feature is that the active equipment is removed from the access network. So it can avoid the lightning effects and electromagnetic interference, and thereby reduce failure rate of external lines and equipment. Correspondingly lower the operation and maintenance costs. Secondly, the PON has better business transparency, wide bandwidth. It can be applicable to any signal with different standard or rate. It can also be more economical to support television business, with triple business functions (triple-play). Finally, because of their shared by users CO equipment and fiber, thereby lines lower costs than other point-to-point communication. Civil costs can be significantly lower. Especially with the increasing fiber to the user, its comprehensive advantages become evident. The cost of PON increases with the OLT share of the per user cost with the increase in the number of users rapidly declined. Therefore best suited to small businesses and residents scattered users, particularly those users spread over the region. The relative concentration of each regional user is a region of small-intensive users, particularly the new region. As a combination of PON and Gigabit Ethernet GEPON have many advantages unparalleled traditional access technology. FTTH is a more mature technology among a new economic and technical. Full-Service Access Platform is an advanced, full-service access and load-carrying capacity of GEPON. Not only in a single fiber, GEPON can do the needs of all business users. Significantly lower initial capital cost of the network, but can also effectively simplify network management and maintenance. SO it can fundamentally solve the problem of high maintenance costs.GEPON network topology greatly reduced the amount of fiber and management costs using point up to the point of replacing point-to-point structure. Passive network equipment is instead of the traditional ATM/SONET broadband access to the repeater system, amplifiers and lasers, laser reduction of the number...
