At present, biometric identification technique market is presenting an unprecedented and good prospects, 98 percent of them are fingerprint identification products. Technology of automatic fingerprint identification has been widely noticed in recent years and it is considered that this technology has a great future. The market has great potentialities, but there exist fault and defect both in the technique and policy.This thesis focuses on the research of the matching algorithm of Automatic Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) using image processing and pattern recognition technique and presents a new improved algorithm for fingerprint matching using Delaunay Triangulation which uses the idea of George Bebis for reference. Central to the proposed approach is the idea of associating a unique topological structure with the fingerprint minutiae using Delaunay Triangulation.The fingerprint has the unique with the constant, so the application consumedly of fingerprint identification technique in the gun safe-deposit box will increase its safety with the dependable.This thesis also introduces how the gun safe-deposit box based on fingerprint identification is designed. Due to certain limited resources in stand-alone and online system, we present a new improved algorithm for fingerprint matching using Delaunay Triangulation to reduce system response time.
