The soil moisture is the local name of soil water content in the farm land. It refers to the soil water status in the main root system activity layer of crops. It is one of the control factors in crop growth. Soil moisture prediction is one of the key techniques of the dynamic distribution of irrigation system in the irrigation district. But soil moisture Extraction of lager region is also a difficult problem in academic. The traditional method, which depending on manual or semiautomatic mode, can only collect the information of a point or a small region. These information which they need to know impersonal, real-time, and lager region soil moisture can't meet requirement of the science research and the government. As the remote sensing technology developed, using remote sensing data combined with ground survey can slove the problem. Remote sensing image is an energy distributing map which reflected the electromagnetic radiation characteristics of earth surface targets. It recorded the general and specific information characters of terrestrial objects objectively and continuously. A meteorological satellite named NOAA/AVHRR has been used to extract soil moisture for a long time allover the world. With the blastoff of the new generation sensor----EOS/MODIS, it has been very urgent for us to use the MODIS data to obtain the soil moisture information. At present, there was not very much researchment on it, so this paper will try to do it.Based on the study of research progress of soil moisture remote sensing information models, this paper studied on preprocessing of MODIS 1B data, deals with methods of extracting soil moisture with Dujiangyan irrigation district as research base and energy balance as theoretical basis. The empirical models were established using some principal factors, such as albedo, vegetation index and radiative brightness...
