The parallel computation plays important role and is widely used in many fields such as science research, engineering and military applications. The parallel computation can greatly accelerate computation speed, decrease computation time and improve computation efficiency. This paper studied two research topics related to parallel computation. The first is a management software for Beowulf parallel computation systems. The second is the automated antenna design based on parallel genetic algorithms (PGA) and the finite element method (FEM).A Beowulf cluster that is composed of personal computers (PCs) connected by a local network provides high effective computations to users. In this paper, a management software for Beowulf systems, which makes use of Windows Sockets (Winsock) library and MPI (Message Passing Interface) parallel library and is written in Visual Basic combined with Visual Fortran, is introduced. The software allows a user to easily operate the parallel system from one computer, such as checking the status of computers, remotely copying files, checking the threads existing in the memory of computers, measuring the calculation speed of computers, shutting down or restarting anyone or all computers in the Beowulf system. This software already has been run on a Beowulf system composed of 16 PCs, and significantly simplified its parallel operations and increased its management efficiency. Also in this paper, the automated antenna design based on PGA and FEM is...
