China has stepped into an aging society with undeveloped economy; the number of "empty nest" families is increasing. How to solve home monitoring of empty-nester is turned to a social problem .The gerontechnology is booming and becoming scale economy in developed countries, but it is in the initial stage in China .The elder's visual monitoring system in existence has the problem of limited FOV and unsanctioned intrusion of personal privacy. So the focus of this research is to develop home intelligent visual monitoring system. On the base of analyzing the monitoring system home and abroad , and considering the cost of the system and the acceptance of the elder, we analyze the elder's daily activity information gathered by the omnidirectional computer vision system which will not influence the elder's daily life. The core issue is how to solve the problem of limited FOV and free from unsanctioned intrusion of personal privacy. The primary technical challenge lies heavily on recognizing human motion posture (such as sit, stand, lie, squat etc.). The method based on omnidirectional computer vision and HMM is presented. In this way, the abnormal activity information can be detected by using the elder's activity model, and the abstract information of the recognition result will be multicasted with...
