optical fiber grating techniques are developing rapidly, and attracting more and moreattention in optical communication and sensing fields. The objective of this thesis is toinvestigate and develop fabrication and application techniques of optical fiber grating.Main contents are classified as follows:1 A brief introduction of history, development, classify, fabrication and application tech-niques of optical fiber grating is presented.2 Two theory analysis methods for fiber grating are well introduced, the spectrum prop-erties of uniform fiber Bragg grating,long period grating,chirped grating,apodizedgrating,phase shift grating,superstructure grating are simulated with Matlab soft-ware. Study the in?uence of strain–optic and thermal–optic e?ect to optical fiber grat-ing and educe equation between strain, temperature and grating wavelength change.3 The photosensitivity mechanism and ways to increase it are presented. Hydrogen isloaded in single mode optical fiber, multi–mode optical fiber, polarization maintainingfiber, Er–doped fiber, double–clad fiber. And fiber Bragg grating, long period grating,moire grating, superstructure grating are written in these fibers.4 The development of optical fiber grating sensors is introduced. Study the in?uence oftorsion to optical fiber grating. Develop a optical fiber grating sensor for simultaneousmeasurement of axial and lateral strain. Improve a single wavelength optical fiber laserby writing FBG in Er–doped fiber. Develop a wavelength spacing and wavelengthtunable dual–wavelength optical fiber laser.
