This dissertation summarizes the investigation and applications on microchannel all over the world. All kinds of methods on micro-machining are introduced and compared with each other in this paper. Two novel techniques called plasma-induced processing and thermal-induced processing which are used to make microchannel are presented.. The novel technology possesses many virtues, such as simpleness, convenience and speedy. It can not only be controlled simply but also fulfill three-dimensional machining with high precision, which is not achievable by conventional micro-machining technologies. It broke the localization that quartz can't be machininged by conventional technologies. Quartz maybe widely used in microfluidic system.Laser trapping technology is called optical tweezers. When a tight focused laser beam passes through a micro-particle, the particle will be orientated and controlled with high accuracy, due to the three-dimensional optical gradient force. Research, development and applications on the novel technology are introduced in the paper.Theories and experiments about the optical tweezer are studied in detail. All kinds of micro-sized particles are trapped and manipulated by lasertrapping. An useful device which is used to trap both transparent and opaque particulates is invented. Birefringence crystal can not only be moved andpushed but also be rotated by the radiation pressure. Based on it, a motorwhich is drived by laser can be developed in future.We innovate that optical tweezer technology can be used in microchannel.At last, yeast cell was trapped and manipulated by the focused laser beam inthe microchannel we machininged.According to the experiment above, a filter made of quartz can be used toseparate cells from virus. Because of the different sizes of cell and virus, wecan fabricated microchannel and nanochannel to filtrate cells. And above all,optical tweezer can be used as an important tool to manipulate cell.
