In this dissertation, the Cr4+:YAG laser which can be use in the fiber communication and the quantum communication is researched and Er doped fiber ring laser is also researched. In chapter one, the background of the lasers especially used in communication are simply introduced. In chapter two, the energy level and the absorption band and the emission band of the Cr4+:YAG crystals are discussed,the classical theory, rate equations theory are generally described. In chapter three, the model lock theory is discussed. In chapter four, the semiconductor saturable absorber mirror also the saturable brag reflector was introduced as the mode-lock device in lasers. In chapter five,we use Haus main equation depict laser mechanics and solve this equation numerically.Influence on pulse width of small signal gain,dispersion and nonlinear effect is analyzed. In chapter six, the cause of producing dispersion and theory of dispersion compensation in lasers by prism pair and double chirped mirror are studied.
