The original idea of internet is "sharing", though client/server is the main mode as the internet infrastructure. As the demand for resource sharing increasing, Peer-to-Peer technology came back to our sight and began to be one of the hottest topics of internet. There appears several protocols focusing on P2P technology as well as P2P software. P2P can provide high-level resource sharing, users are at equal status, thus can greatly reduce the servers' pressure. At the same time, it brings related problems, such as bandwidth pressure, security problem and management problem etc. Also one of the difficult skills is how to localize and route to right network resource. The thesis is to summarize my work during the master period, mainly illuminates following topics: identification of Gnutella protocol message, analysis on the OpenEXT software, JXTA platform and JXTA PDP protocol study, analyze the Tapestry architecture and implementation, bring out one resource search algorithm based on DHT, and apply Tapestry to JXTA platform as the localization and routing mechanism to build a JXTA File System (JFS).
