The Research Of Embedded Real Time JAVA

With the development of embedded technology, it is becoming more and more important in military, aviation, industry controls, communication terminal, network equipments and so on. And it, that big development of aviation in our country and popularity of communication terminal such as cell phone and PDA, shows a fine future of embedded technology. Now, C and assemble languages are often used in real time system. Although the two kinds of languages have better performance, they also have shortcomings such as complex development platform, lower efficiency in project development. Obviously these weaknesses are blocking the development and being stronger of embedded products. However, Java language has some features that show solutions to these problems. So researches on embedded Java and real time Java have very important effects on embedded products, and also have technology and commercial values.This paper introduces a process in details, which involves research on embedded Java, transplantation of embedded Java Virtual Machine, Kaffe; research and improvement of Real Time Java based on RTSJ (Real Time Specification for Java, RTSJ).There are three primary parts in this paper: The first part does research on embedded Java, transplants embedded Java Virtual Machine, Kaffe, gives a summary of strongpoint and shortcoming of embedded Java, and draws a conclusion that it is necessary to do research on Real Time Java; The second part analyzes features of Real Time Java based on RTSJ; According to that analysis, the third part gives improvement plan to weaknesses of Real Time Java.
