Next Generation Network (NGN) is a syncretic network, it can provides lots of services, such as voice, video and digital services. NGN has realized the service and the control separates, the control and the load bearing separation as well as the load bearing with turns on separates, and formed the completely opening lamination system structure. The core technology involved in NGN has two levels: the one is the load bearing network stratification plane; the other is the service network stratification plane, the Softswitch technology will display the core function. The Softswitch is the the NGN control function entity, it provides the call and connect control function to timely request service for NGN, and is the call and the control core in NGN. Softswitch-based VoIP Realized to carry on the communication in the IP network. VoIP not only can provide the pronunciation service, but also can provide the new increment service which the traditional telephone network cannot provide, like video frequency, immediate message and many kinds of data services. Because its inexpensive price and widespread provision of service, VoIP will be one of NGN primary services.Based on the core thought of service actuation in NGN, the new network system structure request further simplifies the control function of the network, in order to realize the platform unification. This requires network edge terminal has the intellectualization. Therefore, intelligent terminal development is an important content in the evolution of next generation network. The paper divides into four parts, first simply introduced the concept about NGN, Softswitch and VoIP, as well as the main content of paper research, author's work and so on. The second chapter analyzed...
