Taking the project of Research & Teaching Section named "The Research and Development of Strapdown Compass System Based on Fiber-Optic Gyroscope(FOG)" as the background, this paper mainly studies the key technologies and the design and realization approach of strapdown compass system based on FOG . Material work is done as follows:As the output of FOG is angle rate and the output of quartz accelerometer is acceleration, this paper studies the attitude-updating algorithms based on quaternion and rotation vector, and selects better algorithms to compensate the corning error, also gives the emulation analysis of the compensation performance of different algorithms.Compass loop is the core structure of compass system, an effective compass alignment method is particularly introduced in this paper, and the theory diagram , deducing process and design method of parameters is given, the emulation and experiment of this method is followed then.Compass state is the main state of compass system, The principles of loop design and selecting parameters of compass state is also introduced, then the corresponding emulation of a long time is given in the paper.After analyzing the maneuver error of compass system, this paper proposes a acceleration estimate compensation approach which can restrain the maneuver error effectively. Its' feasibility is testified by comparing it with the state switch compensation method.
