CAN bus has been the most promising fieldbus and it has been widely used in many areas, but with the increasing of complicacy in automation systems for industrial controlling, people have more and more strict requirement to the real-time capability of information, So it is very important to study the real-time characteristic of CAN protocol for surmounting the limitation of aptotic priority in CAN protocol by taking effective measures and improving the real-time characteristic of communication system based on CAN bus.Firstly, this paper analyzed the characteristic of CAN protocol, and indicated that there were some problems when it was used in rear-time system, then made a summary of improvement for CAN protocol which had been researched by scholars in-country and overseas, and analyzed some kinds of typical static scheduling algorithm and dynamic scheduling algorithms. By comparing the merit and disadvantage of these algorithms, we proposed a new kind of mixed scheduling algorithm.
