In actual control system, the dynamic character of many complex controlled objects is difficult to be described by using the exact mathematical model. On the other hand, with varying of condition and environment of work in the process of control, aging and damaging of the component of the control system, the character of controlled objects will vary too. In view of the above reasons, it is inevitably that there exist some errors between the mathematical model of controlled object and the true object. Combining the uncertainty of parameter of system model with the uncertain of external disturbance, robust control technique studies the problems of analysis and synthesis of robust performance for control system. It renders the defect of the modern control theory which needs the exact mathematical model of object, and makes the methodology of system analysis and system synthesis to be more effective and more practical. The problem of designing a reliable control system has drawn considerable attention in recent control system literature. In controller's implementation, the actuators may be subjected to different kinds of failures. It is therefore of practical interest to design a control system which can tolerate some actuator failures. In recent years, some related research results have been addressed, for example, the state feedback reliable control for discrete time systems and the output feedback reliable control for continuous time systems.
