In order to get anti-noise and good localization image edges, a new fuzzy multi-scale edge detection algorithm is presented in this paper. Firstly, multiple edge images under different scales are acquired by the optimal linear filter for Demigny's criteria. Secondly, this algorithm makes best use of the multi-scale characteristic of edge information and fuses the detected multi-scale edges to obtain the precise single-pixel-wide edge by fuzzy theory. The experiment results prove the feasibility and effectiveness of our algorithm in effective detection and precise localization. The proposed algorithm is applied to the automatic recognition system of meter display value which attains a high measure precision and has broad application prospect.
