The analysis of rock scraps is a very important part in petroleum exploring and geography research. For processing of large quantities of rock scraps data, many kinds of analysis methods are presented. But now workers in the oil fields make tables processing by artificial judging,classifying,statistic, etc. Its workload is heavy, efficiency is low, and it is affected by subject ingredient easily. So it is very significant to replace the fussy means by using computer auto methods.The rock scraps scanner system come out by combine together the image analytical technique and calculators meterage technique. The system has image acquisition, process and the grain statistics etc.The treatise is divided the system into two subsystems which carry on the detailed introduction. 1. How to put the image data into computer with a BASLER for core of subsystem. 2. How to do preprocess, segmentation of the gluing target in the rock scraps image, and quantitative analysis, record of the characteristic parameters of various rock scraps. Finally, the text and graphic tables are presented.The key technique and algorithms in the subsystem of image analysis are discussed in detail. For the characteristics of the rock scraps image, we adopt some creative algorithms and means. 1. To cycloidal conglutination image adopt of space switch and watershed means. 2. To polygon conglutination image adopt of the rectangle means, it is evading the problem of select jumping-off point. It is improve the accurate rate of partition, and the reliability of statistics data.
