A Study On Software Testing And Application In Industry

In recent years, computer becomes more and more popular, from general computers, end systems of banks or supermarkets, to software systems of cell phones. According to this trend, requirements of software quality also become higher and higher. However, quality and stability of practical software is not so satisfying, yet software testing is an important process for quality guarantee in software systems.Research on software testing in overseas countries began in 1960's and at the end of 1970's, it had been well-explored, no matter in terms of theory or technique, and it also succeeded in application, either in depth or width. Software testing becomes more standardized and formalized now, with all kinds of tools and environments established, as well as theories and methods, which are applied to software development. It now becomes an exactly necessary method and tool for guaranteeing, as well as improving software quality.Research of software testing in China started at the beginning of 1980's. Though some test tools have been developed, they are not widely used. Though some software developers and project mangers recognize the importance of software testing; only a few software systems are well tested in practice.
