With the fast development of computer technology and extending of application,digital image processing is faced with challenges of pursuing high speed and increasing complexity,in which High Performance Computing(HPC),especially parallel computing acts as a very important role. 3Dsurface editing,as a rising synthetic subject of technology,has got a big attention whether in civil or military application area. For the quickly changing and updating of remote sensors,the huge data and complicated information that image processing brings to us is unprecedented. On the background ,as an application of digital image processing in 3D surface editing , 3D surface editing is combined with HPC naturally and imminently. The projects discussed in this paper are outcome of this combination.The challenging and massive computation problem in many modern fields need parallel computers of high performance,and with development of the technology of hardware the economic feasibility if building parallel computer is increasing intensely. As the treat speed of pc computer has improved quickly, and the technology of LAN become more and more useful, cluster's setting-up is easily.While the technology of image processing has been developed Obviously, the increscent quantity of calculation is brought. The speed of computer's calculation improves rapidly, but the image processing that needs big calculation quantity runs on single computer ,Much time is consumed.
