The flying development of embedded technology, especially the combinability of embedded and Internet technologies, makes many embedded systems be no more isolated systems, which gives prominence to the problem of information security. According to the deficiency of security that exists in the traditional embedded operating system, this paper designs and develops a C2 level and real time embedded operating system which is used in the electric applications and is named as ESOS(embedded and secure operating system). It not only assures the security in Internet, but also meets the requirements of real time and stabilization.Firstly, this paper introduces the development of embedded operating system, and then introduces its actuality and the trend at home and abroad. Because of the connection of embedded system and Internet technology, the security of embedded operating system will be more outstanding and must be treated immdeiately.In the general design of ESOS, this paper firstly narrates the application and especial requriements of embedded technology in the electric system. Further more, according to the principles of designing secure operating syetem, this paper selects the methods of the kernal and its security for ESOS, and divides it into several modules. Finaly, this paper finishes the design and development of secure communication module of ESOS.Because the secure communication module must ensure the security of communication, according to the threaten of embedded syetem in the electric syetem, this paper designs and implements three security mechanisms which are ID authentication, data encryption, audit and Intrusion Detection System. In order to enhance the capability of ESOS, to decrease the Complication of kernel and expenditure of resourse, the communication module brings forward virtual interface between the kernel and drivers. It can not only shield the differences of drivers but also provide convenience to realize the security mechanisms.At last, the group chooses several test tools and builds a test enviroment for the secure communication module and ESOS. According to the result of test, we analyze and evaluate their performance.
