As vehicles become common tool in people's daily life, the management of vehicles becomes an important issue. This thesis has solved some problem of image pretreatment in the vehicle identification system. Image enhancement technology is prerequisite and guarantee for the identification of image. It plays an important role in enhancing the quality of images. It transforms the original image into a more suitable form for eyes to observe and computer to analysis and process, through selectively emphasizing some image information and restrains some other information, to improve the image visual effect.This thesis makes an exhaustive study of some enhancement methods such as gray scale transformation, fuzzy enhancement, integration enhancement and background adjustment. It puts forwards corresponding methods to solve some defects during the course of image enhancement.Aiming to the key problem of how to divide gray scale intervals in segmental linear transformation method, this thesis puts forward a method based on region segmentation transformation. It accelerates the process of adjusting gray intervals and improves the efficiency of carrying out the arithmetic. In order to adapt to local brightness characteristic of the image, this thesis puts forward a method called histogram equalization based on power function -adjustment. It can adjust the brightness and enhance the contrast of regions. At the same time, it puts forward a method of how to select the optimum parameter. By adjusting the gray value of pixels after histogram equalization, this thesis puts forward a method called histogram equalization of preserving gray scales. It enriches the gray levels and dispels the infection of the gray level amalgamation to some extent.Through improving traditional fuzzy enhancement method and using sine membership function for fuzzy enhancement, a large amount of the gray scale information can be avoided being missed. At the same time, the selection of the optimum parameters can be accelerated. On the basis of fuzzy enhancement, gray scale linear transformation is used to further improve image enhancement effect.In order to make the project application and experiment analysis convenient,...
