Firstly, this thesis analyses shortcomings of the moment limiter developed by single chip microcomputer, which demonstrates the practical significance of the research of the moment limiter developing with PLC. Programme logic controller(PLC) has the function of mighty control, analog signals transaction and mathematics compute, it insure that PLC can be used on the crane moment limiter. PLC has been use on huge engineering machine such as gate crane ,gyre crane etc., but the moment limiter configures in addition. Whereas considering implement the function of moment limiter by PLC, that can reduce the cost of crane. For the cranes which arm angle and length is alterable, its utmost hoist competence is changeable. So we must found the characteristic curve math model of the crane. Then the PLC programme can provide protection for the crane working according to the math model.Hoist competence—radius(Q—R) curve isn't standard, so the characteristic curve math model of the crane must be found up. The curve(Q—R) has the characteristic of linear and nonlinear. So the work of founding the accurate Q—R math model is very difficult. This paper has analysed the method of the founding of the accurate Q—R regression model, and has study the realization of the function of moment limiter by PLC with experiment.
