With the development of the research on the routing and switching theories of the new generation Internet, ForCES (Forwarding and Control Element Separation) architecture, which combines the merits of the easy centralized programmability and the well distributed scalability, is proposed nowadays. In this architecture, using the method of the separation between the control plane and the forwarding plane, it will promote the development of the IP parallelization which leading to a promising prospect in scientific study and commercial market.In the research of the ForCES architecture, one of the most important contents is the modeling of FE (Forwarding Element), whose main advantage lies in improving FE's flexibility, scalability, and the inter-operation between FEs and CEs. The FE separated from the CE (Control Element) not only manages all the information it contains, but also needs to support the queries of the capability and attribute information of the FE from CE, for the convenience of the FE's configuration and management. Therefore, the FE information in the dissertation is abstracted as a kind of formalized description, providing an intuitive configuration file to CE. Meanwhile, this file will cooperate with the ForCES protocol for the consistency explanation of all kinds of the message formats and data types, to implement the consistent interaction with ForCES protocol.The reaseach of this dissertation emphasizes on the analysis and the research of FE model, as well as proposes its concrete implementation scheme. Firstly, the dissertation introduces a reference model for the hierarchical structure of FE, which decouples the ForCES protocol layer and underlying implementation by constructing FE model layer, and also provides a platform for interaction. Further, according to the practical needs of the project, the FE hierarchical modeling is deployed using the dataflow model method, aiming at modeling the module topology and improving the ability of the subsequent execution.With the system requirements, the module design scheme on the underlying Click SoftRouter is presented. Benefiting from the implementation method of MIB in SNMP, this dissertation organizes the FE model bank as a dynamic tree, whose information is classified by the difference of the usages and implementation modes, and realized using ASN.1.For the flexible usability and scalability of FE model bank, using the tool lex&yacc, a small language parser is developed to transform the model described in ASN.l to standard C code operable on Click directly. It can also provide real-time queries and dynamic configuration for ForCES protocol layer. And the interaction between the FE model layer and other layers is implemented with the system functions and standard APIs.
