The development of software technology goes through 4 phases, and there are programming method base on algorithm, structural programming, object-oriented programming, and component-based software development. With the development of software technologies, the methods of software engineering came into use, which has gone through the tradition software engineering, object-oriented software engineering and component-based software engineering (CBSE). Among them, the last one includes many advanced software engineering methods currently.This paper firstly analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of CBSE in compare with other software engineering, and then study the engineering methods in the phases of CBSE.CBSE includes two parallel processes - Domain Engineering and Application Engineering. The former is the emphasis in this paper. Domain Engineering includes three phases: Domain Analysis, Domain Design and Domain Implement. There are many useable methods and technologies in the three phases. This paper applies these methods and technologies to ERP, the goal of which is to solve the problem of ERP system. Feature-Oriented Domain Analysis (FODA) is a method of Domain-Analysis. Pattern and framework is a method of Domain design. And the component technology of dotNet is an implement method of ERP domain.In addition, this paper studies the methods to reuse the components in component base, which can lighten the workload of developing a new ERP system, and increase the productivity. The component's functionality and dependability will be improved by reusing. Therefore, the functionality and dependability of the new ERP system based on these components will be improved accordingly.The management ideas develop perpetually, so ERP system fusing the ideas must go ahead with the epoch. That is to say, ERP system must have flexibility to fit the user uncertain requirement, and component software must support the development of flexible ERP system. This paper studies a series of methods to pick out the common parts of ERP systems and further to build the ERP domain component, which has practical value in the process of developing new ERP systems.
