Research And Implementation Of Cluster Management Based On Web

With the more and more rising computing requirement, people need more and more powerful computing resources. However, the price of massively parallel processing system is too expensive to use. The emergence of cluster can solve these contradictions. A cluster is the best price/performance system, which has a better expansibility and availability than other high performance system.In order to provide efficient and convenient computing resources to the customers, the cluster must have a group of management software which can efficiently provide load balancing, configurable job scheduling, job management, resource management, fault tolerance, resource monitoring, software license management, accounting management and so on.This paper describes the design and realization of a web-based cluster management system. It is mainly comprised by the following 5 parts:Part 1 introduces some knowledge of cluster, such as the concept and application field of the cluster. Part 2 analyses the architecture of the cluster in detail. Part 3 we describe some design principle and function of the web-based cluster management oriented cluster administator and cluster user. The main function oriented administrator is divided into: User management, Resources management, System accounting, Job management, Queues management, and so on. The main function oriented user is divided into: Job management, Job submitting, User Information management and Accounting. With the respects of resources, jobs, queues management, we primarily referrence PBS(Portalbe Batch System). PBS is a popular system because it is powerful, custermizable, and it can be downloaded free. Part 4, after comparing the most popular job management, we analyse the PBS in detail. Part 5, we implements the web-based cluster management.The web-based cluster management has run successfully on the HP RX2600 cluster system in High Performance center of our campus, whose main characteristics include: Invidiual user platform, customizable working desktop, simple and convenient operation interface, flexible utilities, reliable safety, convenient accessing of remote resources. By the support of Oracle database, the system can remember the job paramenters and users information. In addition, the interface between the web-based batch enviorment and PBS is portable, and it is very easy to be applied to other job management systems.
