With the development of science and technology, the processes of industrial production are becoming more and more complicated, and how to improve the dependment and security of the modern production has been got more attention. Under this requirement, fault diagnosis and alarm communication system emerge with the tide of the time. The variety of fault diagnosis technologys based on the ANN theory have been widely used in the practice.At first, the paper gives a brief introduction to the development of fault diagnosis and the basic knowledge of it, and then, the paper describe the basic principles of ANN and fuzzy logic system, and analys the design ideas of the fault diagnosis based on the ANN and fuzzy logic system. According to the characters of the fault of a hot nitric acid cooling system, an ANN+FLS faults diagnosis model is integrated. ANN detecets the loop faults sources through the partical important data. Fuzzy system detects the element faults through the preliminary diagnosis results obtained by ANN connected with other correlative values, and interprets the final results. Through the results of the faults diagnosis simulation, it has been proven that the fault diagnosis method is very valid.Meanwhile, the fault points also need to be alarmed and monitored so as to let workers know about the whole production process, according to those needs, the alarm-monitor communication software of the nitric acid production has been designed, using the OPC in VB language to access the WinCC database to make a real-time alarm and monitor of the industrial production. Fault diagnosis technologies add monitor and alarm system of the production will be an important method to enhance the security and dependment of the modern industrial production.
