With the development of the technology of the network, multimedia and database, multimedia as image is developping very fast. people' s demand of multimedia data such as graphcis, image, cartoon, video etc. is more and more intensity. Traditional retrieval technology like image retrieval based on text can not satisfy people's demand completely. Though the retrieval based on content solves the feature of people's vision of image, but it can not solve high level semantic image retrieval completely. Then it is urgent to establish semantic description and retrieval mechanism of image. "the study base on semantic image annotation and retrieval system" is selected as the theme of this paper.The image retrieval based on semantic is the image development trendence. It syncretize lots of old image retrieval technology. This paper is divided into five parts:The first chapter introduces the content of image dispsal, image retrieval development and some typical retrieval system simply.The second chapter mainly introduces the sementic level model, extraction model, extraction methods of image sementic and image segmentation technologies. The sementic extraction methods includes objects type and object interspace relation sementic extraction, scene and behavior sementic extraction, emotional sementic extraction.The third chapter mainly introduces sementic description methods, the glossary of MPEG-7, framework, main content and the decribation language of MPEG-7 as xml. At last , it introduces image retrieval tool and project.The fourth chapter introduces some multimedia annotation tools and image annotation system' s system design and framework design and image retrieval system framework, system interface, text retrieval technology, the user model of image annotation and the user evaluation of annotation system.The fifth chapter introduces function, flow, interface and evaluation of the experiment system, and discuss the question of sementic image retrieval.This paper is one of the product of "information visualization andknowledge retrieval" --the important science project of ministry ofeducation(Project ID:02JAZJD870004)...
