Now, embedded Geographical Information System (GIS) of satellite navigationand positioning technique on Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) is an importantresearch aspect in the navigation system. In this dissertation, my purpose is designingand realizing GIS software of precision timing, positioning and navigation onembedded oriented equipment of PDA using Embedded Visual C++ (EVC) toprogramme and combine Global Position System (GPS) technique. After reference tothe concerned domestic and foreign information, I made an in-depth study on realtime receiving and processing of GPS signal, real time displaying GPS location data,getting and matching electronic map, GIS, the application of positioning andnavigation of GPS and SMS technique on PDA, the application of softwareengineering PDA navigation system and so on. I have particular researched embeddedGIS control MapX / MapX Mobile of MapInfo company, based COM groupware GIStechnique and navigation electronic map's secondary development are realized, themainly module of navigation system on PDA is developed.The main works and contributions can be summarized as follows:(1) The structure of navigation information of GPS satellite system is introducedin detailed;the GPS data of timing, positioning and navigation received using RS232of PDA, relevant PDA's software program are developed on Windows CE.(2) Denotation method, data structure and data model of navigation electronicmap's are lucubrated, navigation electronic map's secondary development is realized.(3) Using embedded Visual C++ and MapX / MapX Mobile of MapInfoCompany software tools, PDA navigation software are developed, the function ofsoftware include loading, zoom in, zoom out, choice, roving electronic map, GPSnavigation state map and airscape, GPS navigation module and so on.(4) Short message service of GSM / GPRS is researched, positioning, navigationand control between reference station and navigation PDA are built up using GPSinformation and SMS technique.(5) After the introduction of the system and the analysis of the program structure,I expressed material application of Component Object Model, Object Orientedtechnology and software engineering in the system development and the explicitadvantages by admitting to these methods.
