Gas equipment industry is a rapidly growing industry in virtue of vigorously promoted use trends of state' s clean energy and international- ization energy. And the implementation of several large-scale projects such as Western China Gas and Electric Power Transported to the East, the Sino-Russian Gas and Eastern China Sea Oil accelerates the development of the industry. These make natural gas related to industry increases rapidly .Product data management is the main content of modern enterprise management, and also it is the basis for modern enterprise normal operation. At the same time, the storage and looking up of product data become very complex and product data sharing become extremely difficult owing to some reasons. After introducing technology of CAD/CAE/CAM, Product data management also has a deeper meaning. Improving product design quality and efficiency is the core purpose of modern enterprise management. Initial design phase will take into account the last stages of products draft, assembly, manufacturing, etc. thereby design quality and costs can be improved, namely the so-called parallel design concepts. It is widely believed that product data management (PDM) is the enterprise information system integration, integrated framework for the realization of the ideal parallel systemworks.In this paper, the author explained the basic concepts of product data management, summarizes the research status at home and abroad, and presents the PDM system structure and root function. The file management, project management, product mix, product testing and PDM integration are highlighted, puts forward analyzing product data in this way of data mining on the base of basic database theory, and then proves that the rationality and efficiency of product designs can be improved making use of studying conclusions. The author mainly explains the way of a rough set by which analyzing the importance of product components has a good directive function in the structural product designs. This paper targeted software development related to gas equipments, and it has been proved that high efficient product data management can indeed improve the efficiency of product through test.
