This study stems from the project of Beijing Educational Science -the AppliedResearch on Online Academic Community for Undergraduates Based on DistributedEducational Resources (CIA02354), and it is the further study of the 2002 NationalSocial Science Funds for Youth Project, the Research on Distributed KnowledgeManagement. Based on resources and user interaction, we want to providepersonalized services for users. With the widening of bandwidth and booming of net resources, any user couldbe a corner of the information transfer pyramid shifted from the traditional one thatthe flow is just from portal site to end user. Faced with the miscellaneous resourcesand multiple users, the study is focused on how to give play to the users' subjectiveinitiative, how to promote users' understanding of resources by interaction, and howto provide users with good services. The research is to construct a personalizedInteractive Services System (PISS) based on the abundant and authoritative resourcesof NIRMS (Network Information Resources Management System). The systematicdesign of "exchange circle among academic users" brings about users' succession ofreal social relations and reconstruction of virtual web relations. Users are tightlyjointed together based on academic resources and studies. The "Academic Authority"in the exchange circle provides users with intellectual support. Message tools, BBSand Chat Rooms assist user to understand resources and further their progress.User-resource interaction and user-user interaction reveal not only the value ofresources but also of users.PISS stresses the importance of share and user interaction. Users can share theirown personal spaces including academic exchange circles, favorites, BBS, chat rooms,BLOG, and user dictionaries. Through share, the resources are transformed toknowledge;individual developments are advanced to group ones. In this case, usersinfluence one another and make progress mutually.PISS is programmed with J2EE, which makes it work with the NIRMS easily. Interms of theory, PISS profits more from constructivism, Reciprocal Determinism andSix Degrees of Separation. We try to design PISS as a useful setting that helps usersdevelop themselves in interaction rather than a mere place to the provide resources.
