Nowadays the subject of adaptive filtering constitutes an important part ofthe statistical signal processing. It has two kinds of forms. One is the FiniteImpulse Response filter, the other is the Infinite Impulse Response filter.Comparing to the former, the later has some advantages: It can offer the betterperformance than the Finite Impulse Response filter which has the samecoefficients. That is to say, the coefficients that Infinite Impulse Response filterdemands are less than Finite Impulse Recursive filters in order to get the sameperformance. So because of the reduce of the computation and the progress ofthe performance, IIR filter becomes more and more popular in the field ofSignal Processing. In the article, we focus on the some adaptive IIR filteringalgorithm and the application of the IIR filter for a controller.First of all, this paper analyses the develop direction of adaptive filter,adaptive FIR filter algorithm and some basic adaptive IIR filter algorithm.Some new algorithm based on the former is presented in this paper.The adaptive IIR filter algorithm based on hyperstable theory is studied.On the basis of hyperstable theory, a new adaptive IIR filters algorithm isproposed;the algorithm not only simplifies the design of linear compensatorand parameter change, but also reduces caculation. Simulations that confirmthe utility of the new algorithm are included.Particle Swarm Optimization for optimizing parameters of adaptive IIRfiltering is studied. A new method -particle swarm optimization is proposed foroptimize the design of IIR filters. The algorithm dosen't relies on gradientinformation, and can reach the global optimization of objective function.Experimental result shows that it not only has resolved the problem ofconverging easily to a local minimum of the objective function.but also hasresolved the problem of stability.An adaptive inverse control methods with adaptive IIR filter as controlleris researched. Also an adaptive inverse control structure based on filtered-ULMS algorithm is given, and It is applied to the control of ship, Simulationsprove the validity of this control structure.
