In recent years, the transition from analog TV to digital TV has become obviously faster and faster in China. Along with the broadcast testing in many places in China, and the popularization of digital TV set top box, the transition from the analog signal to digital signal is comprehensive outspreading. On the basis of the situation of network in our country at present, DVB-C set top box will become the main product. Therefore, there are important scientific values and practical significance to study the design and exploitation of software receiving system for DVB-C set top box.The DVB-C set top box which we studied is designed on the LSI Logic Corporation's single-chip decoder SC2005. This paper studies the theories related to digital TV first, including MEPG-2 and DVB standards, and analyses the structure of DVB transport stream and information carried in stream, and describes the work principles and hardware structure of set top box. The paper also introduces the main chip SC2005, the real time operating systemμC/OS-II that is adopted, and the software development environment. Then the paper explaines the software structure at large, and has a primary description for the startup flow and tasks how to found of set top box. Finally, the paper describes the process of establishing user interface on OSD layer, and brings a new method to design a novel and powerful electronic program guide system. Overpass the trial-produssce, the software project has been shown to be viable and advanced in actual use.
