Application Of Temporal Database Technology In GVPAIS

Time is an important aspect of all real-world phenomena. Events occur at specificpoints in times. With the development of society, history information is needed bymore and more applications. Only "snapshot" of the mini-world at the latest timepoint is stored in existing DBMS. Temporal databases store and manage differenttime-state data, taking time as one of the data attributes managed by systems. Withinthe past twenty years, researches of temporal database theory have acquired greatachievements. However, application researches of temporal database are not enough.By now there is no complete temporal database management system yet. Thetemporal database research cannot be separated from the existing database and itsmajor development. In fact, it is necessary to increase some functions to themainstream database model to deal with temporal information.Because data in the General VAT Payers Administration Information System(GVPAIS) is time varying, the system is researched as an application example oftemporal database technology. GVPAIS is underlying relational DBMS, but we don'twant to modify the structure and the algorithm of the DBMS, we add some modulesbetween DBMS and code.This thesis introduces the basic concepts, specialties, classification andapplication research status of temporal database. On the basis of analysisrepresentation schemes of temporal data, implement schemes of temporal dataadministration, it copes with the backdrop, feature and basic structure of GVPAISand then studies the methods of processing temporal data in non-temporal DBMS. Itis point out that it is a viable method for processing temporal data in non-temporalDBMS to extend non-temporal DBMS layered. The advantages of the strategyinclude that the modification of traditional database theory is not involved;it isunnecessary to modify the databases structure and the original application systemslargely.
