The Implementation Of DVD Recording And Web Browser On Set-Top Box

With the digitalization of the TV Broadcasting, DTV(Digital Television) industry hasaroused a vast concern all over the world. Many countries have set up their ownschemes of the transition from the Analog TV to Digital TV. DTV STB(Set-Top Box)will be an important product of the DTV industry during the period in which both theAnalog TV and the Digital TV exist.The dissertation is mainly about introducing a HDTV STB with BCM7115,BCM7021 and BCM7040 and developing creative functions of DVD recording andweb browser. BCM7115 can control the whole system, decode the channel anddecode the MP@ML MPEG video source. BCM7021 can decode the MP@HLMPEG video source and BCM7040 can code the analog video into the MPEG-2 bitstream. Since this Set-Top Box is using embedded Linux system, it providespossibilities for me to do my jobs following. The dissertation describes the theoryand process of DVD recording in details and also explains how to port the softwareand the design of user interface. This function is innovative and advantaged to theSTB. I didn't accomplish the function of web browser on STB, but I suggested apossible way to do it, it can lead the following people to finish this work finally. Inaddition, the dissertation gives a brief look on searching EPG information and thedesign of its user interface.
