The criminal activity of forging credentials becomes more and more recently, which results credential anti-counterfeiting technologies'quick developing. At present, the credential anti-counterfeiting technologies mainly based on special materials and special techniques, which will lead to the credential's cost increase. For common credential, it is hard to accept the cost's increasing. The criminals are also making great efforts to obtain these anti-counterfeiting technologies. Once the criminals get these technologies, the credentials'security will be faced with the forgery's threat.Digital watermarking is a newly developed technology recently. It is a branch of information-hiding technology. Digital watermarking hide information into digital carrier data, the hided information can be used as evidence for copyright protection and authentication of the carrier data. On the analysis of credential's characteristics, this paper utilizes the invisibility of digital watermarking information, hide text watermarking information into credential's serial number and image watermarking information into credential's photo respectively. There be certain relationship between the two kind watermarking informations, and these informations can be extracted only by corresponding watermarking extract algorithm. People can identify the credentials through checkup of the extracted watermarking information. Experiments show the embedded information can't be discovered easily; both text watermarking and image watermarking are robust for printing and scanning. This method can meet the request of credential anti-counterfeiting. More important is this method dose not needs additional equipments and materials, so the credential's cost can't increase, and the watermarking information's embedding and extracting are easy to perform. Digital watermarking can be used as a choice for credential anti-counterfeiting technologies, which has the advantages of high security, high flexibility and low cost.
