The Design And Research Of Videoconference System Based On Client/Server Model

Videoconference System is the result of the development of computer network, database, multimedia technology and communication services. With communication network, it can connect two or more terminals of the Videoconference System and transmit various images, voice, and data among them, which makes the participants feel that they were on the spot themselves.H.323 is a maturedeveolped system, which is distinguished as centralized management to support multipoint conference. MCU is the center in the system to the management mechanism which is transparent to the terminals. As a result, it is no needing for the terminals to maintenance any system control task.This paper gives a plan of videoconference system based on client/server model. Main content are given as below: how to use DirecShow technique to obtain multimedia data; multimedia data transport over IP network; multicast principal and application in the system; As the core part of the system, conference control and management are the main concern in our design. In the end of this article we discuss some useful techniques to resolve some problems which are also very important in the system.
