Remote sensing image database system is a kind of database system for storing, managing and retrieval all kinds of remote sensing image, it is the important part of application system of remote sensing information. In these year, the amount of remote sensing image increases rapidly with the development of computer and remote sensing technologies. It has become an very important problem how to manage and retrieval these remote sensing data and images efficiently.For solving this problem, according to the engineering needs of the remote sensing information system developed by our laboratory, we design a basic structure of remote sensing image database system of content based image retrieval based on traditional image database system managed by catalogue. And then, we develop an applied remote sensing image database system of content based image retrieval based on the basic structure using VC.net and Oracle database.This paper explain our special research work on the engineering and arithmetic of remote sensing image database system of content based image retrieval. Firstly, we explain the basic structure of remote sensing image database system of content based image retrieval designed by us in detail. Secondly, we explain the system engineering structure, the frame-plug and function module structure used in the development of extracting feature, matching feature and measuring distance modules. Finally, we explain the research work on arithmetic of content based image retrieval. We explain our improved arithmetic in extracting feature and matching feature in detail. After our experiment, we prove the arithmetic both have some effect for our project.
