Al-free high power laser diode arrays are applied in national defence and industry for their high output power, long lifetime, high transfer efficiency, small volume etc. At present they are research hot spot fields of laser technology .In this paper, the different structure designs and packages taking account for heat dissipation of Al-free high power laser diode arrays were studied, and some achievements are listed as below: Based on the whole of Al-free high power laser diode arrays, the key process technologies are discussed, and analyzing the factors effect on the characters of Al-free high power laser diode arrays in every key process technology. The second one: we studied the effect of temperature on performance of LDs. It was found that threshold current increase exponentially, outpower and slope efficiency decrease parabola and exponentially respectively. Coefficient of temperature shift is 0.24/K, whereas characteristic temperature also decrease with rise of temperature. The third one: A precise constant-temperature control system for high power laser arrays (light output one bar 15.28W, double bar 27.8W) is provided in this paper. The full-state refrigeration system is made up of a TEC (Thermal electrical cooler). The error of the temperature controlled is ±0.1. The system worked normal when the room temperature reached 55℃. This refrigeration constant-temperature control system applied in high power laser array has not reported in our country.
