Visualization of network security situation shows the massive abstract data with images that reduces the workload of data analysis and facilitates the manager to grasp the overall network security situation. The current research works have some problems such as display clutter, dull representation and incapable geolocation. In this thesis, multilevel map of network security situation was proposed aimed at these problems, and the visualization method of network security situation was designed based on the Geographic Information System (GIS).The main works in this thesis are as follows.1) The mainstream visualization technologies of network security situation were surveyed, and the shortcomings of these technologies were analyzed. Four types of visualization technologies were compared to clarify the character of each technology research. The function and development tools of GIS were analyzed.2) A multilevel map of network security situation was proposed, and the view structure, display output, view control and human-computer interaction were designed that combined with the character of GIS. Network security situation information can be shown with multilevel views, which solved the display clutter problem and made the network security situation more intuitive.3) The map architecture of multilevel network security situation was explored, and the generation algorithm of multilevel network map was designed, which solved the technology of network security situation information dynamic rendering on the GIS map. The technologies of view control, human-computer interactive and dual-view display were studied.4) A prototype system was designed and implemented to validate the feasibility of multilevel map, and the maps had variety exhibitive forms with accurate position and clear view. This work attempts to explore the method of mapping the network security situation that would provide a new idea for further visualization research.
