With the development of financial computerizing, banks are speeding up the construction of branches, especially the self-service ones, to attract more customers and provide better financial services. Accordingly, the purchase amount of ATM devices is increased greatly. More manpowers are released from trivial and low-efficient business (such as deposit/ withdrawal). The pressure of the counters is also relieved. In a long-term view, the prosperous outlook of the bank industry will promote the further spread of ATMs.ATMs are the devices that integrate the technologies of optics, electricity and mechanism. Its popularity is speeding the computerization of banks. However, there are still a lot of unsatisfying handicaps in ATM System, such as weak hardware, imperfect software, bad environment, and so on. These problems will result in more and more customer grumbles. If banks don't have enough technical stuff to monitor and maintain those devices, negative impact will be caused to the bank reputation. Thus, benefiting from the convenience of the ATMs, banks are raising more criteria on the maintenance and management.In this paper, ATM monitoring and management solution of Wincor Nixdorf is analyzed. The shortcomings of ProView System in the actual application and implementation are presented, such as incomplete collection of error events(lack of unified regular expression set and event configuration data), lack of project management(lack of unified product introduction and demonstration scenarios) and hardness of project maintenance(unobviousness of event information display, nonsupport of event searching and statistics, inconvenience of basedata importing, hardness of data transfer and maintaining). To solve these problems, we develop a new PV_IM_Template management tool including standard filter.ini sets, ProView project database, graphic user interface which respectively solved the three problems above. Also, how to cooperate ProView with the tool is introduced carefully.Finally, the covered topics and experimental results are summarized in the paper. Unresolved issues are pointed out, and the future research directions are proposed.
