As a bond that links laptop with city electricity, laptop power adapter gets more and more attention with the improvement of its function. The laptop power adapter has experienced great changes from the beginning that the output voltage which met the requirement was simply needed, to nowadays that there are lots of requirements from the shape to power. Under the background that the whole society is promoting energy conservation, tiny shape and efficiency have become the power adapter's key design criteria.The power adapter is introduced and its development is reviewed firstly in this paper, and then its key performance indicators are presented. By analyzing and comparing the power topology, a fly back power adapter is designed by author. After completing the introduction of the circuit's overall structure, the author calculates the parameters of the device in accordance with the design requirement, and designs as well as produces the high-frequency transformer, until the completion of the prototype and performance testing.In this paper, the power adapter is based on the switching power chip TOP261LN. A variety of protective measure is used. In the condition that the input voltage is 90~265V, the author gets an output-19.7V, 3.3V. At last, according to the final test results, the rationality of the design is verified.
