Accurate channel estimation is the base of optimum reception, which makes it possible to use the channel parameters to set the initial working conditions for the adaptive equalizer as soon as quickly, and it takes great significance in a variety of distorted channel communications. In recent years, digital signal processor (DSP) got a rapid development, which applied widely, and it can implement channel estimation quickly and easily taking its advantages of low power and high-speed computing capbility. Therefore, research on channel estimation algorithm and implementation based on DSP not only has positive academic significance but also has feasibility and necessity. This paper studied channel estimation technology based on DSP from the algorithm theory and experiment. Main tasks are as follows:Firstly, the paper described the basic characteristics of the wireless channels, including the large scale fading, the small-scale fading, and the phase fluctuations, etc, and the paper introduced the corresponding channel model, and elicited the content of channel estimation.Secondly, the paper studied the subspace algorithm based on the second order statistics and the channel estimation algorithm using superimposed training based on the first order statistics, and made some simulation analysis using Matlab to understand the basic principle of the algorithm and technical performance, and choosed an algorithm to implement DSP realization by comparing the advantage and disadvantage of the two algorithmThirdly, after deep understanding the structure, the working mode and the principle of the DSP system, the paper implemented hardware simulation of the channel estimation algorithm based on superimposed training using FMC6416PA-S development board, and solved some key programming issues including generating QPSK signal, adding noise, and so on.,and it got a good estimation results at the end.Finally, the paper constructed an experiment system of channel estimation, which used SEED_DEC2812V1.0 development board as signal processing unit, and used a microcontroller to generate the signal, and it also designed a simple simulant channel circuit, and did some experiments,and it got a good estimation results about channel characters.
