Recently, most applications require high performance and high data throughput as basic need. Multi-Core system can achieve high performance through the method of parallel computing. But as media processing or science modeling always has high density and locality as well as various addressing way, the data can be two-dimensional, while traditional linear memory breaks the continuity between lines. It discounts the high performance, and traditional architecture cannot provide such high throughput for system.Addressing above issues, we design a system for block data processing, which focuses on system interconnect and data access mechanism, in order to satisfy real-time demand for various applications, providing with a high efficient method of data transmission. We analyze the architecture with the block data applications, and then propose two-dimensional block data access mechanism, apply it into the multi-core system, with features of full use of idle resources, green, easy interface, and flexible addressing. Finally we use some applications for simulation and verification, combined with the result of physical design, analyze the comprehensive performance, and come to conclusion that the system can achieve a good performance in improving system throughput, speedup, and parallelism when computing block data.
